Welcome from Senior Captain

Welcome to the CMGC Seniors Section information page, this contains useful information on how the Seniors Section is run within the Club.

Being the Captain of the Seniors Section for 2024 is indeed a privilege and honour and I am looking forward to meeting and greeting new members to the Club.

During the coming year we have a 19 match inter club fixture list, where we play home and away at some of the local golf courses and it’s fair to say that some of these matches are competitive!!.

These matches comprise of either 12 or 16 man teams per side with a meal afterwards and are a great social event – great value for a cost of between £12-£18.

Throughout the summer we also run, separate from the Clubs usual medals/stableford competitions, 7 midweek competitions for our Seniors (55 years and over) with an overall winner announced at the end of the season. Again this has proved very well supported and competitive.

When we get to the winter, we run a number of team Senior Competitions (cost £2 per player). These are a fun competition to get us through the cold, wet winter months.

Back to the Summer – we run 2 Open Senior competitions (June and August) which are well supported by our CMGC Seniors but we will always welcome competitors from other clubs.

The entry forms can be found on the club website.

It’s a good way of both showing what a great challenging golf course we have at Chilwell Manor, well presented by Dan and his hardworking team and how friendly the CMGC Seniors are so spread the word.......

As a Senior Section, we understand that the Junior members within our club are vital for the future of Chilwell Manor and as such have sponsored their winter coaching (held on Monday evenings by our club Professional, Richard Lawrence and Junior Organiser, Clive Smith) for 2023/24. We also plan to have a “friendly” match with the Juniors in the Spring but watching grown men cry when a Junior out drives the Seniors would be worth being there!!

In closing, I wish you all a great season golfing and meeting new friends in 2024 at CMGC and if you see me around the club say “hi” and introduce yourself – be good to meet you.

Best Wishes
