Dear member ,
A very warm welcome to the CMGC Seniors Section information page.
I am delighted and honoured to be CMGC Seniors Captain for 2026 .I’m extremely fortunate to be supported by my Vice Captain for the year, Mike Aplin and together, along with Bill Percival our excellent Seniors secretary, we’ll do our best to make the coming season enjoyable, inclusive and well organised for all our seniors members.
As with all sections of the club, the Seniors section is friendly, competitive in the right way, and always ready to make room for one more in a four-ball.
Over the coming season we have a full programme of inter-club matches, with 15 fixtures confirmed home and away against local clubs.
These fixtures run from April- September and are played in teams of 12 or 16, followed by a meal and plenty of post-round chat and are great value at around £16–£18. Also offering a perfect mix of golf, camaraderie and light-hearted rivalry.
Alongside the club’s regular medals and Stableford competitions, we run our own series of midweek Seniors competitions (for all members aged 55 and over), with an overall winner announced at the end of the season. These events are always well supported, keenly contested, and a superb way to meet other seniors and enjoy the course.
During the winter months, we switch to a programme of team events superbly organised by Bill Percival (entry usually around £2 per player). These are fun, sociable competitions designed to keep us playing through the colder, wetter days – with plenty of banter to keep spirits warm even if the weather doesn't.
During the summer we also host two Seniors Open competitions, the "Manor Seniors Open" on 12th June & the " Ron Walton Seniors Open " on the 23th August , both of which attract visitors from other clubs as well as our own members. Entry forms and further details can be found here on the club website. These days are a fantastic showcase of our challenging and enjoyable course excellently presented by Dan and the greenkeeping team.
As a Seniors Section we also recognise the importance of supporting the future of Chilwell Manor. Our junior golfers are vital to that future, and we are pleased to continue our support for their development through winter coaching and friendly matches.
I am excited for the year ahead and look forward to seeing you at the club throughout the season.
Whether you are a regular in our events or thinking about joining in for the first time, I hope you enjoy your golf and your time here at Chilwell Manor. If you see me around the club, please do say hello and introduce yourself – it will be a pleasure to get to know you.
Best wishes,
Matt Brick
CMGC Seniors Captain 2026
