Juniors Noticeboard

This was played on Sunday 4th July 2010, Chilwell Juniors v Rushcliffe Juniors at Chilwell.

Congratulations to the Chilwell Juniors who won 4-2.

The Juniors for this season attempt to gain the most points to win the Trophy.  Points have been achieved up to Saturday 22nd May 2010.

The Winner of the Championship was Luke Thornton with a net 61.  Congratulations to Luke.

The Winner of the "Under 21" Scratch was Adam Dorricot our Junior Captain.  Congratulations to Adam.

Who successfully won the Cyril Sellick Trophy which was played for at Retford Golf Club.

Adam won with a nett 67.  Well done Adam.

The Tee will be closed from 12 Noon until 1.30pm for the above match.

Sam has won his quarter final and semi final matches playing for British Universities and is through to the finals at Forest of Arden Golf Club, which will be sometime in May (details of date to be notified).

Present: Steve Maltby, Jack Prescott II,  Sam Maltby, Club Captain - David Bailey. Paul Wilson - Professional.

A warm welcome was given to all Juniors with their family, friends and guests by Jack Prescott II.

The Match Secretary was asked to give some information with regards to the Inactive/Active Handicap System, he then proceeded to hand out New Certificates to those Juniors with a Congu Handicap.

The Junior Captain - Sam Maltby, was retiring from the Junior Section and was presented with a Crystal Tankard from Jack Prescott II and Steve Maltby.  Mention was made that Sam had played in the Four Counties matches, and Nottingham won, which was an excellent result and Sam came 3rd in the Order of Merit.

Adam Dorricott who has taken over as Junior Captain for 2010, made an excellent speech thanking the outgoing Junior Captain, the Organisers, and wished our Club Captain - David Bailey a good year.

Before the presentation of the Trophies, David Bailey had organised a quiz, and of course the Juniors won.

All of those who attended enjoyed a buffet, after this we then had the presentation of Trophies.

The Club Captain said a few words in encouragement and support of the Juniors. 

Captain closed the meeting at 9.40pm.

Sam joined Bournemouth University in September 2009, and beside his studies managed to apply his golf by being chosen to play for the 2nd Team, he won most of his matches.  Sam then went to Desert Springs in Spain for Winter Training, lucky Sam.

He was then picked to play in the 1st Team Matches, where only the top 9 play for the team, 6 players being selected to play for the Southern Premier University League.  There are 4 competitions, all medal stroke play over 36 holes.

Sam should qualify to play at both the Castle and Eden Course at St. Andrews, also Forest of Arden, if then the team qualify they will represent English Universities in Germany.  Good Luck Sam.
