Gordon Greensmith
It is with regret that I have to advise the members of the death of Gordon Greensmith. Gordon had been a member of Chilwell Manor for 43 years, and passed away peacefully on Sunday 7th March. I will let you have more information when it is available.
Chris Lawrence
Honorary Secretary
OPEN EVENING. 19th MARCH from 7:30pm
There will be an Open Evening for Membership Recruitment on the 19th March, from 7:30pm
Members are invited to attend with any potential new members to meet Club Officials, and to discuss what CMGC has to offer.
Light refreshments will be available.
BEWARE 14th MARCH
Please be aware that there will be no access to the Club Car Park on this date between 08:45 until 09:55. This is due to Queen's Road (Westbound) between Meadow Lane and Attenborough Lane being closed to traffic for the KILOMATHON which takes place on that date.
Refurbishment of Ladies Shower and Powder
The refurbishment of the Ladies shower and powder rooms will commence during the week of 25 Jan.
The gents toilets next to the Spike Bar will for a period of approx 4 weeks, become the Ladies toilets. The men will use the toilets next to the showers. The access to the mens' toilets will be from the outside doors. The external door furthest from the Clubhouse will be fitted with a numerical keypad to allow access, the number will be the same as for the clubhouse.
Access and egress to the mens' lockers and toilets will be through the external doors.
We have explored the use of external porta-loos, but it was expensive (£300+/week) and there would be problems with security, ie; the public using them.
The reserved parking spaces against the wall of the cluhouse will be used for skips and builders vans.
George Edwards Memorial Bridge
George Edwards Junior applied to the Committee several months ago to ask if he could build a bridge, at no cost to the club, in honour of his late father, George Edwards who was a member of this club for nearly 40 years. George, who had an unofficial competition named after him, sadly passed away in February 2006.
It was agreed with George Junior that a bridge in front of the men's 4th tee would be appropriate, as it would be seen clearly by people playing the third hole.
Work started w/c 23 November 2009 and should be complete by early December 2009.
Our thanks to George for his generous gesture.
Help for Heroes Fundraiser
The above was held on Sunday 25th October 2009, and with the support of all the members, competitors, and numerous sponsors made this a very succesful event.
The amount raised was £1724.
May I once again thank everyone for their support and generosity for this worthy cause.
Alan Roberts.
