Paul is a fully qualified member of the Professional Golfers Association with over 21 years experience. His golfing career began at Matlock Golf Club where he learnt to play the game at the age of 13. At the age of 16 he became Assistant Professional to Geoff Armitt followed by Mike Deeley at Matlock Golf Club in 1984. By the age of 19, he became the youngest qualified Golf Professional In Great Britain.
In 1988 he worked at Erewash Golf Club, and whilst there he won the Derbyshire assistants title and the Midlands assistants match play title.
At the age of 21, Paul became Club Professional at Mickleover Golf Club in Jan 1990 making him the youngest Club Professional in Great Britain.
In July 1994, Paul became the Club Professional at Chilwell Manor Golf Club at the age of 25 taking over from Eddie Mcauseland. In 2002, Paul became the Notts P.G.A captain.
Paul is only the fourth Club Professional to be employed at Chilwell in its 103 years.
